CARLA BERKOWITZ is the Executive Producer of the highly acclaimed independent feature film Critical Thinking. The film, directed by and starring the Emmy-award winning actor John Leguizamo, tells the true story of the 1998 Miami Jackson Senior High School chess team, which was the first LatinX inner city team to win the U.S. National Chess Championship. Krutel began his career in Miami working for the iconic director / producer, Michael Mann, in a production role on Miami Vice. His most recent film, Critical Thinking, directed by and starring John Leguizamo, is set in 1998 Miami. It’s the story of Black teenagers in an underserved Miami community, who eventually win the national chess championship.
