GARY BURTON is a jazz vibraphonist, composer and jazz educator. Burton developed a pianistic style of four-mallet technique as an alternative to the prevailing two-mallet technique. He has been heralded as an innovator and his sound and technique are widely imitated. He is also known for pioneering fusion jazz and popularizing the duet format in jazz, as well as being a major figure in music education due to his 33 years of teaching at the Berklee College of Music, and his many years of service as executive vice president of Berklee. Burton has recorded over 60 albums and won 7 Grammy Awards. Beginning in the 1960s, when he was still a teenager, Gary has performed with almost every major jazz musician.

Chet Atkins – (1924–2001) American guitarist, occasional vocalist and record producer who, along with Owen Bradley, created the smoother country music style known as the Nashville sound, which expanded country's appeal to adult pop music fans as well. Chick Corea – (b. 1941) American jazz and fusion pianist, keyboardist, and composer. As a member of Miles Davis' band in the 1960s, he participated in the birth of the electric jazz fusion movement. In the 1970s he formed Return to Forever. Along with Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Keith Jarrett, he has been described as one of the major jazz piano voices to emerge in the post–John Coltrane era. Larry Coreyell – (b. 1943) American jazz fusion guitarist. His music during the late 1960s and early 1970s combined the influences of rock, jazz and eastern music. In 1967 and 1968, he recorded with Gary Burton. Down Beat – (est. 1934) An American magazine devoted to "jazz, blues and beyond", the last word indicating its expansion beyond the jazz realm which it covered exclusively in previous years. The publication was established in Chicago, Illinois. It is named after the "downbeat" in music also called "beat one" or the first beat of a musical measure. Hank Garland – (1930–2004) Nashville studio musician who performed with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Moon Mullican, Brenda Lee, Roy Orbison, Gary Burton and many others. Stan Getz – (1927–1991) American jazz saxophonist. Playing primarily the tenor saxophone, Getz was known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone, his prime influence being the wispy, mellow timbre of his idol, Lester Young. Coming to prominence in the late 1940s with Woody Herman's big band, Getz is described by critic Scott Yanow as "one of the all-time great tenor saxophonists".[1] Getz went on to perform in bebop, cool jazz and third stream, but is perhaps best known for popularizing bossa nova, as in the worldwide hit single "The Girl from Ipanema" (1964). Ted Kurland – (b. 1951) founded Ted Kurland Associates in 1975. Now known as The Kurland Agency (TKA), Ted has represented many of the greatest jazz performers of the past 40 years. Sir George Shearing, OBE – (1919–2011) British jazz pianist who for many years led a popular jazz group that recorded for Discovery Records, MGM Records and Capitol Records. The composer of over 300 titles, including the jazz standard Lullaby of Birdland, he had multiple albums on the Billboard charts during the 1950s, 1960s, 1980s and 1990s. Shearing was born blind to working-class parents: his father delivered coal and his mother cleaned trains in the evening. Sir George died of heart failure in New York City, at the age of 91.
